13 June 2024

Recently, selected students in Year 12 at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form visited ExCel London for the Infosecurity Europe 2024 Conference. The 3-day conference enabled students to hear from Generative AI expert Henry Ajder about the future of AI as well as discovering cutting-edge technology and solutions from various vendors.

Computer Science student at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form, Jamoi, shared her highlights of saying:

“Attending the Infosecurity Europe 2024 Conference was an eye-opening experience, shedding light on the multifaceted world of cybersecurity. I was impressed by the wide array of companies and sectors represented, each tackling unique aspects of cybersecurity.

“A high point was my conversation with Cillian Folan from Cymulate, who provided insights into how Cymulate effectively deals with threats and enhances cybersecurity resilience. It's remarkable to see the proactive measures companies are taking to safeguard our digital landscape.

“I also had the pleasure of speaking with Gavin Stark from ISC2, a cybersecurity charity. Gavin introduced me and my peers, Nathanael and Kamiah to the CC 1 Million cybersecurity certification challenge, which we are excited to pursue and complete. This challenge will undoubtedly enhance our skills and knowledge in cybersecurity.

“Meeting Liam Ibbetson from Cloudflare was another enlightening experience. He explained that Cloudflare offers a comprehensive range of solutions, enabling companies to consolidate their cybersecurity needs without the hassle of dealing with multiple vendors. It's fascinating to see such innovative solutions simplifying complex cybersecurity challenges.

“A big thank you to Westminster City School for providing us with this incredible opportunity to explore and learn about the diverse fields within technology. The experience has broadened my horizons and fuelled my passion for cybersecurity.”
