Pupils reading in library

Library

Our Westminster City School Library is a welcoming and quiet space for reading and study. It is open every day, from 8.30am to 4.15pm.

Our Library holds over 10,000 books, with new titles added regularly. Around 200 books are borrowed each week, which illustrates the strong culture of reading that we have nurtured in our School.

Our books are organised into fiction and non-fiction categories, and we have A Level sections with selected books to broaden and deepen knowledge of our students’ chosen subject areas. Our Library is also furnished with twenty Mac computers downstairs, and four in our Sixth Form study area.

We believe reading for pleasure is key to students’ success and wellbeing. To encourage this, all in Years 7 and 8 have weekly reading sessions in our Library. Yet our Library is also well used by older year groups, especially sixth formers during private study periods.

Each day after school, students can attend Homework Club to complete any homework assignments, assisted by a teacher and our librarian, Mr Chapman. In addition, after school on Mondays, our Library hosts our Chess Club.
