Never lose sight of your 'North Star'
On Tuesday 11 July, Westminster City School welcomed guest speaker Tunji Akintokun MBE, a man filled with passion, knowledge, determination and the drive to succeed.
Students in Years 9 and 10 who were in attendance, as well as Westminster City School staff, were left in awe as Tunji highlighted the importance of taking risks that will 'allow you to track and get closer to your North Star' - something he recognised from a very young age.
Tunji has worked in global technology and professional services organisations for over 30 years and is currently a Senior Director at LinkedIn, leading a multidisciplinary team for the UK and Ireland as Head of Marketing Solutions.
He now mainly supports his passions through his Ilesha Charitable Trust, making impact and long-term donations through grants, bursaries and scholarships.
Regarding his visit to Westminster City School, Tunji commented saying:
"It was an absolute pleasure to spend some time at Westminster City School speaking to students in Years 9 and 10. A key stage in any students time at school as subjects are chosen and the journey towards GCSEs and BTECs begins which can often shape students career direction.
"Being able to emphasise and share a skills first approach that many employers are taking will certainly help these students as they enter the world of work'."
