BackWork Placement at World-Leading Firm Ardian
Year 12 student at Westminster City School, Abbie, was successful at securing a 5-day structured work placement opportunity with Ardian, ‘a world-leading private investment house with assets of $164bn managed or advised, in Europe, Americas and Asia’.
Abbie initially heard about this fantastic opportunity through the Sixth Form team at Westminster City School and immediately applied. The application and selection process was extremely competitive, consisting of an investment task that needed to be completed and online Zoom meetings.
Speaking with utter joy and appreciation, Abbie commented on her immersive experience with Ardian saying:
“As part of the work placement, myself and other successful applicants enjoyed an introductory day where we found out more information about Ardian, the structure of the company, the various departments and what to expect during the placement period.
“Additionally, I was able to enjoy three days at their headquarters in London which included a networking breakfast and two days outside of the office.
“This was such a special experience for me because prior to joining Westminster City School’s Sixth Form, I’ve never had a work placement before, this was my very first work placement. Therefore, naturally, I was nervous at the start of day one, but the wealth of knowledge I received and the variety of case studies that we looked at has certainly helped me to see that a career in finance is for me and it was great to hear about the industry as a whole.
“After my time at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form, it is my goal to study Financial Mathematics and Statistics or Economics at University. I’m still undecided on the exact university I would like to attend but my top three are LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science), The University of St Andrews or Imperial College London.”
Abbie joined Westminster City School’s Sixth Form from Grays Convent High School. The A Level subjects that she is currently studying are Mathematics, Further Maths, Economics and Chemistry.
