The Rank Foundation Leadership Award

9 May 2024

Huge congratulations to Year 11 student at Westminster City School, Hasani, who has received The Rank Foundation Leadership Award for demonstrating great leadership potential. This award is the sum of £5,000 per year for three years to assist with Hasani’s university fees or to be used as a maintenance grant whilst at university in addition to leadership opportunities.

The Rank Foundation is a philanthropic organisation and the charitable legacy of Joseph Arthur Rank. The aim of the organisation is to improve the lives of people and their communities, across the UK by encouraging and developing leadership amongst young people and promoting enterprise and innovation.

Hasani is delighted to have received this award. He said:

“Receiving this award means that I will have the chance to meet aspiring young leaders from various backgrounds who have also been granted this award. I am excited for what is to come and I look forward to gaining knowledge, insight and understanding from professionals regarding what makes a great leader.

“Westminster City School has supported me in so many ways since I joined the school in Year 7 and the staff have truly helped to nurture my God-given talents, from my love for Rugby, the first sport that I felt a calling for, to my musical endeavours which included learning various instruments throughout the years, attending phenomenal trips, including a visit to The Royal Albert Hall and many more.

“It is certainly not a surprise that I have decided to continue my studies at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form in September 2024. This is a place I call home and I look forward to studying A-Level Music Technology, A-Level Psychology, A-Level Sociology or A-Level Business.

“Finally, I would like to say a heart-felt thank you to all the teachers and support staff at Westminster City School who work hard to help students such as myself to thrive and be the best version of ourselves. I don’t think that my life would be the same if I went to another secondary school because I have been so fortunate to receive amazing opportunities during my time here, and I look forward to completing my seven-year-journey with Westminster City School."
