BackA Notable Alumni from WCS, Wes Streeting
Congratulations to Westminster City School’s notable alumni, Wes Streeting, who has been appointed as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. Wes completed his secondary education at Westminster City School in 2001 and went on to study History at the University of Cambridge, Selwyn College.
We are extremely proud of the journey that Wes has been on thus far, he has always been a loyal supporter of Westminster City School and an inspiration to students, both past and present. His example and willingness to dedicate his time to speak to our students is a testament to the fond memories he enjoyed during his time at Westminster City School and the fact that he sees the importance of giving back to the community.
During one of his many visits to Palace Street to speak to Sixth Form students studying A-Level Politics, a student commented on the opportunity she had to speak to Wes Streeting saying:
“American journalist and author, Hunter Stockton Thompson who founded the Gonzo movement once said that ‘politics is the art of controlling your environment’.
“The opportunity to welcome Wes Streeting back to Westminster City School, his roots, truly portrayed the true art of politics; a much loved subject I hope to be part of in the future.”
As a school that is inspiring excellence in the heart of London, footsteps away from the Palace of Westminster and other noteworthy landmarks and attractions in Westminster, we are indeed delighted that the nearest boys’ school to Parliament has a cabinet member amongst its alumni – a first in this instance.
