BackInternship with Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance
A select group of Year 12 students at Westminster City School were privileged to gain a place on the internship programme with Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance. The internship lasted for an entire week, thus enabling students to gain a thorough understanding of an established business – one that supports ‘over fifty airlines around the world’. The experience went far beyond just acquiring knowledge and allowed students to see first-hand how the business is operated.
Year 12 student at Westminster City School’s Sixth, Angelo, shared his experience saying:
“It was such a pleasure working with everyone from the RRPF team and it gave me a useful insight into how the aviation/engine leasing industry works. My passion for aviation and its unique business model has never been stronger than before, and I’m quite happy to say that this is a line of work I will pursue.
“Additionally, I was fortunate enough to work alongside and learn about their legal team with a visit to one of the top law firms in the country, as well as their technical team, which included a visit to 2 hangars at Heathrow, and an enjoyable experience with the marketing team.
“I will surely never forget this amazing experience and I will make it my aim to apply the skills I have learnt which will help me when facing future challenges. A huge thanks to my Sixth Form, Westminster City School and Bhavik Bhatt for making all of this possible and special thanks to Annette Koch for help on the final presentation.”
Mirabel, who was selected for this internship, said:
“I’m incredibly grateful to the entire RRPF team for this invaluable opportunity, especially Bhavik Bhatt and Annette Koch as well as Westminster City School for making it possible.
“As part of the internship, we visited RRPF’s partners with two members of the team to see the engines they own. Standing beside these massive engines was awe-inspiring and gave me a new appreciation for the technical complexities involved.
“On the final day, we met with some of the ‘parts’ team who gave us a decision-making task to choose the best engine to sell, which allowed me to refine my analytical skills. This is just the start of my journey and I couldn’t have asked for a better beginning!”
Rikash, who is also in Year 12 at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form, added:
“One of the sessions we had on day 3 was the marketing team session – where we were introduced to negotiation skills. This experience taught me the importance of negotiation and the marketing team’s critical role. In the afternoon, we met the Aether team, where I learned how engines are leased to companies and the significance of legal procedures for smooth operations. We then worked on our project for the final 30 minutes.
“This internship has given me an insight into various career paths and has allowed me to gain essential skills such as teamwork, decision-making, public speaking, and problem-solving, alongside other soft skills. I’m grateful to the RRPF team for their kindness and support, and to my colleagues for being part of this journey.”
