On Thursday 6 February, Westminster City School's Pathways to Law cohort, along with a few other eager aspiring lawyers, had the exciting opportunity to attend a captivating lecture delivered by staff from Kingsley Napley LLP, an internationally recognised law firm based in central London. The event featured an inspiring trio of speakers: an Associate Solicitor, a Trainee Solicitor and an Apprentice, who shared their unique journeys into law and offered valuable insights into the internships and experiences that shaped their pathways.

For students like Akash, the session was a powerful motivator. "Hearing from the staff at Kingsley Napley LLP was truly inspiring and helped me put my goals into perspective, reinforcing my ambition to pursue Law," Akash shared. "The most interesting insight I gained from the session was learning more about the criminal and civil sides of law. Most law events tend to focus heavily on corporate law, so it was refreshing and humanising to hear about a more people-centred aspect of the profession."

Year 12 student, Ronni, who attended the session added:

"I learnt so much about the various pathways into law, and the speakers were all evidently passionate about their field. It solidified my aspiration of becoming a barrister and I'm so grateful that they came to speak to us. It's clear that law isn't a one-size-fits-all, rather there is a space for everyone with different interests and strengths."

Scythe, who is also in Year 12 and involved in the Pathways to Law programme at Westminster City School, added:

“Hearing from the three guest speakers from Kingsley Napley LLP gave our group an insight into what it means to work in a professional setting, particularly the varied range of roles that are available in top law firms like Kingsley Napley LLP, as well as a general overview of their own pathways into law.

“What I found particularly interesting is the level of transparency and honesty each speaker had when sharing their personal experiences in the legal field - this really helped me to understand that the world of law isn't as intimidating as I had first thought, and that I am not alone in feeling nervous about pursuing a career in Law.

“Thank you so much to the three staff from Kingsley Napley LLP who spoke to us! The session was helpful and informative.”

This session provided students with an exciting insight into the diverse opportunities available in the legal field, offering both a broad and detailed view of the profession.
