Celebrating World Book Week at WCS
This week, Westminster City School celebrated World Book Week with a range of fun and exciting activities for students to get involved in such as Book Character Hunt, Film Screening, Open Mic and Mystery Book Stall.
On Tuesday, Year 7 students enjoyed an assembly with Alex Scarrow, a British author most known for his young science fiction series ‘TimeRiders’. Alex spoke to students about his passion for writing, what it’s like to be a writer, including the challenges and creative process. Students were engaged and had the chance to ask questions about the characters in the books he has written.
Another highlight of the week was our Tutor Reading sessions, where Sixth Form students read to students in the younger years. Mr Chapman, LRC Manager at Westminster City School, said:
“It was great to see older students sharing their love of reading and helping to spark a passion for books in the younger years. The smiles and excitement during these sessions were great and added a nice touch to our activities this week.
“We also hosted an Author Workshop, where students received hands-on experience in writing from Seth Burkett, an author and football player. They worked on their own stories, explored new ideas, and received valuable tips from Seth on how to bring their characters and worlds to life.”
World Book Week at Westminster City has been a fantastic celebration of stories, creativity, and imagination.
