Cambridge University Workshop at WCS
On Thursday 27 March, three Cambridge University ambassadors led a workshop aimed at informing, inspiring, and supporting twenty Year 10 students with their higher education aspirations. The workshop provided students with the opportunity to discover the university application process, strengthen their knowledge of Cambridge and Oxford collegiate and tutorial universities, alongside hearing more in detail what university life is really like from current university students in their first, second, and third years at Jesus College, Cambridge University.
Isshaq, a Year 10 student at Westminster City School, reflected on his experience and involvement in the workshop, saying:
“Before this workshop, I was already considering Cambridge University, but it really helped to solidify my decision. The university seems like a great place, and the student life looks very appealing.”
During the session, students worked in pairs to discuss common misconceptions about Cambridge University and Oxford University, which were addressed and clarified, helping them to gain a clearer, more accurate understanding of what life at Cambridge and Oxford universities involves.
Ms Clarke, Head of Chemistry and Oxbridge Coordinator at Westminster City School, added:
“We look forward to the next steps of our Year 10 students once they have completed their GCSEs next year, alongside their Sixth Form future, and then eventually their own university applications one day! My thanks to the student ambassadors for their time running such an engaging and informative workshop."
