On Wednesday 2 April, a group of 16 enthusiastic Year 12 students had the exciting opportunity to attend the Rae Hybrid Day at University College London (UCL).

This annual school outreach event provided hands-on exposure to various emerging Computer Science fields and access to researches and innovators. Our students engaged in thought-provoking demonstrations and lectures covering Virtual Reality (VR), Human-Computer Interaction, and Data Tracking, as well as an introduction to building APIs.

Throughout the day, the group explored how VR technology can transform learning and entertainment, gained insights into the complexities of designing user-friendly interfaces, learned how data is collected and analysed for real-world applications, and discovered the fundamentals of API development. By the end of the day, students left feeling inspired and eager to continue their exploration of Computer Science, equipped with new ideas and a deeper understanding of the possibilities that await them in an ever changing field.
