Another Year of Celebrating Achievement at College Garden

13 July 2026

Westminster City School came together at Westminster Abbey’s College Garden on Friday 10 July to celebrate the achievements of students from Year 7 to Year 13 at the school’s annual Celebration of Achievement Evening.

Students, families, staff, governors and invited guests gathered to recognise academic success, commitment to school life and the variety of contributions students have made throughout the year. The evening also celebrated the character, strength and determination that highlight life at Westminster City School.

This year’s Guest of Honour was Rt Hon Rachel Blake MP, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster and Economic Secretary to the Treasury. In her address, she spoke about the importance of strong communities and the role they play in helping young people succeed.

Throughout the warm and sunny evening, students took to the stage to receive awards recognising their achievements across the academic year. The celebrations were interlinked with performances from the Westminster City School Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Chamber Strings Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble, whose performances reflected the range of talent within the school community.

Year 12 student Omar, who has attended Westminster City School since Year 7, reflected on the occasion, saying:

"The key message for me was how privileged we are to be part of such an amazing community that continues to support one another. Celebration Evening gives recognition to students who deserve it, and it’s something that makes our school special. I’ve been lucky enough to attend as both an award winner and a performer, and every year you can feel the pride from parents and the joy of the students."

Year 12 student Jagroop shared how inspired he was by Rachel Blake’s message about the strength of community. He said:

"Being able to build and maintain a diverse and supportive community is at the heart of achieving success, both individually and collectively. It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements and memories made across the past year with my friends, and the performances and speeches made the evening even more special."

Year 13 student Juanita was also recognised and received the Robert Lobb Bequest for Mathematics Award.

Reflecting on her award, she said:

"It was not an easy journey but looking back to where I started in Year 12, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I couldn’t have overcome my struggles without the persistent support of my teachers and my wonderful friends who encouraged me every day. Thank you, Westminster City School for this opportunity."

Celebration of Achievement Evening is one of the many highlights of the school calendar, bringing together students from every year group to recognise academic excellence, but also perseverance, contribution and personal growth.

Congratulations and well done to all prize winners!
