Following a successful audition, Westminster City School’s Sixth Form band have reached the final of the Tri-Borough Music competition! The band features Akash, Timi, Daniel, Kelasson, James and Sarah.

The winners are guaranteed a day recording at Abbey Road Studios which is the most famous recording studio in the world! This studio has been home to many well-known artists for the last 90 years including The Beatles, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Adele and many more.

James who is in Year 13 at Westminster City School’s Sixth Form commented on the experience so far saying:

“Winners of this competition get to record at Abbey Road Studios and it would be great to have that experience before going off to University. Whatever happens I'm sure the final alone will be an experience that we will forever remember.”

Daniel, who is also in Year 13 commented on the unity of the band adding:

“We have spent a lot of time working together throughout the years and felt that this was the right time to enter this competition and see what the outcome would be. Now, we are judged as one of the seven best performing acts across London and that fills me with great pride.”

Kelasson, also a member of the WCS band added:

“There were a lot of really strong acts, so we are delighted to have made it to the final and have the opportunity to showcase our talents and represent the school in this way.”

The Tri-borough Music Hub and The Rhythm Studio are pleased to present the final of Future Sounds 2023. This competition is for young contemporary musicians aged 11-18 in Hammersmith & Fulham; Kensington & Chelsea; and Westminster. It is organised and run by the Tri-borough Music Hub in partnership with The Rhythm Studio, with a host of supporters involved with judging, prizes and links to the music industry.

The seven final artists cover a broad range of contemporary styles including rock bands, a duo, power-ballad singers, jazz fusion, and a music producer.

Tickets for the Final

The final is happening at Bush Hall (website and venue map) on Weds 22 March 2023, doors open at 6.30pm, performance 7.00-9.30pm. Tickets are free to under-18s; and £7 for over-18s (including booking fee), but must be booked in advance (ticket details HERE).
