Westminster City School student Nehemiah, and his gymnastic team members at Southwark Gymnastic Club, travelled to Bracknell Leisure Centre on Sunday 26 February to participate in the Bracknell Gymnastic Club Southern Tournament 2023. The team were successful in the competition and won a gold medal.
Nehemiah commented saying: "Winning a gold medal was an exciting and proud moment for the team. It was a fantastic reminder of how hard we worked as team and it has given us the confidence to keep pressing on."
Nehemiah's goal is to go to the European Gymnastic Trial in 2023 to qualify so that he can represent his country; with the long term goal of heading to the Olympic Games in 4 years'.
When asked who his biggest inspiration is, Nehemiah confidently said:
"Max Whitlock is a phenomenal inspiration for me, he is a great role model. In fact, he is the most 'successful gymnast in his nation's history'. What I admire about him is the strong work ethic he has, the fact that he is a good leader who doesn't give up on what he wants.
"I try my best to emulate such qualities so that I can achieve and succeed not only in gymnastics, but also in my GCSEs. I do this my working hard in everything I do, ensuring that I maintain a positive mindset at all times."
