Congratulations to Westminster City School’s Sixth Form band who won the Tri-Borough Music competition on Wednesday 22 March 2023! The band features Akash, Timi, Daniel, Kelasson, James and Sarah.

The winners are guaranteed a day recording at Abbey Road Studios which is the most famous recording studio in the world! This studio has been home to many well-known artists for the last 90 years including The Beatles, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Adele and many more.

The students are ecstatic to have won the competition which gave them the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Kelasson commented saying:

“It is an incredible feeling to have come out as winners and to have shared such a special moment with my closest people.”

Akash added: “Winning Future Sounds 2023 is a perfect way to conclude our seven-year journey at Westminster City School as we look forward to the next few weeks and months as Year 13 students.”

Headteacher, Mr Broughton expressed how proud he is stating:

"I was very fortunate to witness our Sixth Form Band (A.M.D.) win the Future Sounds 2023 competition on Wednesday evening. Their musicianship, faith, belief in their own talents and the joy with which they made music clearly shone through and resonated with the judges."

Mr Cecile, Subject Leader of Music at Westminster City School also said:

“I am so proud of all our performers and excited for their upcoming experience at Abbey Road Studios as deserved winners of Future Sounds 2023. It is such a generous prize and an opportunity that I am sure they will embrace.

"To be crowned the Number 1 Music Act in the Tri-Borough Music competition is an amazing achievement, which I hope will inspire the next generation of musicians at Westminster City School. Anything is possible with hard work and dedication.”
