BackRe-dedication Service at St Margaret's
On Friday 27 September, Westminster City School held its first service at St Margaret’s Church as part of the act of Re-dedication as a school community. Guest speaker, Revd Professor Keith Magee, Senior Fellow and Visiting Professor in Cultural Justice at UCL, spoke on the meaning of having the courage to reach out beyond our groups and tribes to create a better and more inclusive world.
Head Prefect Deron, who is in Year 13, spoke about how touched he was by the experience. He said:
“I had the honour of reading Psalms 37:1-8, a passage that reminds us not to be envious of wrongdoers but to trust in the Lord and do good. As I read, I felt the power of the words resonate throughout the room, encouraging us all to have patience and faith in difficult times.
“The highlight of the service was the speech from Reverend Professor Keith Magee. He touched on a variety of societal issues, but the part that stood out to me the most was when he said, “you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think.” His words were not only deeply inspirational but touched the hearts of everyone in attendance, leaving us all with a renewed sense of purpose and courage.”
Year 13 student Jamoi, added:
“As Deputy Head Prefect at Westminster City School, it was an honour to participate in our school’s Re-dedication Service, an event that reaffirms the foundation of faith on which our community is built.
“Reverend Professor Keith Magee’s insightful words emphasised the importance of having self-belief and bravery. His message challenged us to live out our faith boldly and to continue building a school culture rooted in love, service, and purpose.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to lead this significant moment and for the unwavering support of our school community.”
Westminster City School would like to extend a big thank you to Revd Professor Keith Magee and friends for taking the time out to attend the Re-dedication Service at St Margaret's Church.
