Mathematical Success for WCS Students!

14 October 2024

Congratulations and well done to all students from Westminster City School who took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. A special well done to Andrew who is in Year 11 and Deron who is in Year 13 at Westminster City School's Sixth Form, who have both qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad.

Deron, who was exhilarated to hear such amazing news, said:

"Achieving Gold in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and securing the best result in my year has been incredibly rewarding. It is a proud moment, knowing that I am one of only two students in my school’s history to qualify for the British Mathematical Olympiad.

"To be selected amongst 1000 students in the entire UK to participate in the Olympiad feels both humbling and motivating. I am excited about the challenge in November 2024 and I remain extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent Westminster City School on such a prestigious stage."

Mr Okyere, Teacher of Maths at Westminster City School, said:

"It is essential to create a conducive environment where students are given the opportunity to thrive and want to achieve the best possible outcome. In Maths, it is evident to see that they are passionate about the subject and the various competitions that takes place outside of the classroom."
