BackYear 10 Outward Bound Trip to Aberdovey: A Week of Adventure and Growth!
Last week, some Year 10 students from Westminster City School embarked on a thrilling outward bound adventure in Aberdovey, Mid Wales, for an unforgettable week of challenges, teamwork, and personal growth. With the stunning Snowdonia mountains as their backdrop, they took on a series of outdoor activities designed to test their resilience, leadership skills, and camaraderie.
From the moment they arrived, it was clear this trip would be anything but ordinary. Day one kicked off with a jog and dip in the Irish Sea. Day two saw the start of their expedition through the rugged Welsh countryside, where students navigated trails, worked together to find their way, and experienced the beauty of the natural surroundings. The journey tested their physical endurance, but it also sparked map reading skills, new leaders emerging and a sense of team spirit as they learned to rely on each other.
The excitement continued throughout the week with activities such as scrambling, abseiling, jetty jumping and gorge walking.
Mr Phillips, who also had the privilege of acoompanying students on this trip, commented saying:
“One of the most memorable moments was the upside-down climbing challenge, where students had to face their fears and trust their teammates to support them - an experience that pushed many out of their comfort zones but left them with a sense of pride and achievement.
“What made the Aberdovey trip truly special was the spirit of adventure and the sense of community it fostered. Every student took something unique away from the experience - whether it was the thrill of reaching the summit, the satisfaction of working as part of a team, or simply appreciating the beauty of the outdoors.
“Overall, the trip was an outstanding success, and the memories created will stay with our Year 10 students for years to come. It wasn't just about adventure; it was about discovering their strengths, overcoming obstacles, and building lasting friendships. Well done to everyone who took part—you’ve made our school proud!”
