WCS Students Secure Offers at Oxford and Cambridge Universities
We are incredibly proud to announce that three Year 13 students at Westminster City School have received offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities - two of the most prestigious institutions in the world. Joel and Barney have both been offered places at Oxford, while Rachel has secured an offer at Cambridge. This marks a major milestone in their academic journeys and reflects their hard work, resilience, and commitment to excellence.
Miss Clarke, Head of Chemistry and Oxbridge Coordinator at Westminster City School, shared:
"Supporting our highly academic and aspirational students through the rigorous Oxbridge application process has been an absolute privilege. Regardless of the outcome, each student who applied demonstrated the core values of Westminster City School - a strong work ethic, resilience, and the ability to adapt proactively to the challenges they faced. Their journey involved competitive admissions tests, in-depth pre-reading, and extensive interview preparation with external experts and our own dedicated staff.
“This year, we are thrilled that all eight of our Oxbridge applicants have received offers from prestigious Russell Group universities, highlighting their exceptional dedication and abilities. We wish them all the best as they prepare for their A Level examinations and look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
“To students considering Oxbridge, I would say, aim high! You may not realise it until Year 12, but anyone has the potential to apply to Oxbridge if they commit to their studies and develop strong communication skills. With dedication and focus, the opportunities are within reach for everyone."
Here’s how some of the offer holders reflected on their journeys and the support they received along the way:
Barney’s Journey to Oxford
Barney, who has received an offer to study at Oxford, shared:
“It feels amazing to hold an offer from such a prestigious university to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Although the work isn’t done yet, this offer has given me extra motivation to push for the grades I need to turn this offer into a reality. Reflecting on my seven-year-journey at Westminster City School, I’m grateful for the academic curiosity and skills the school helped me develop, which set me up for a successful Oxbridge application. The support I received, from personal statement guidance to mock interviews, were invaluable.”
Joel’s Path to Oxford
Joel, also offered a place at Oxford, added:
“Throughout my seven years at Westminster City School, I’ve been absolutely blessed to meet teachers who are genuinely committed to helping me achieve my goals through their support and numerous opportunities offered. A trip to Oxford in Year 10 opened my eyes to the possibility of studying there, and the support I received throughout the application process made it all feel achievable. Getting into the Target Oxbridge programme in Year 12 also helped with supporting me through the entire process and I'm just grateful I ended up believing that I could go all the way to being accepted.
“I’ll forever be grateful to my school and my family, especially my mum, for being my greatest support system.”
These students’ success stories are a powerful reminder of the incredible opportunities available at Westminster City School. We look forward to celebrating their future successes and continue to encourage all our students to reach their full potential.
