£699 Raised for The Passage Charity

7 March 2025

Westminster City School has been working together with The Passage charity to provide the necessary support, including fundraising events.

Headteacher at Westminster City School, Mr Broughton, said:

“It was my very great privilege to visit The Passage Resource Centre for local street homeless on Wednesday 26 February. Located less than five minutes from our school, the Resource Centre offers a range of different services designed to support those sleeping rough or who are homeless in the Victoria area.

“The individualised approach to supporting those in need ('clients' to use The Passage's terminology) was heartening to see. Clients at the centre can get a hot breakfast, receive support from doctors or get careers advice. Experts in the job centre provide guidance around writing CVs and there is a bank of professional clothing so that people will be appropriately dressed for interviews.

“There is a stunning internal 'winter' garden to provide a space for reflection along with a multifaith space for dedicated prayer. Given the quality of the resource, it was wonderful to be able to give a cheque for £699 to support the ongoing work.”

Anna Church, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at The Passage, said:

“Thank you so much Westminster City School for your donation of £699 from your Christmas fundraising, as well as your fantastic carol singing at our Victoria Station collection in December. At The Passage we provide a place of safety and support to hundreds of individuals every week through our immediate welfare services, accommodation projects and employment support. Your fundraising and support will go such a long way to ensure that we can continue providing these essential services to those experiencing homelessness in Westminster.”

We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with the Passage and to raise awareness within our student body about issues of homelessness and rough sleeping.
