BackPenguin Random House UK Workshop at WCS
On Thursday 9 March, facilitators from Penguin Random House UK visited Westminster City School to run a workshop with Year 12 students. Students had the chance to hear about the facilitators roles and also received an introduction into Penguin Random House and Merky Books.
The workshop involved students being divided into five different groups which included Marketing, Sales, Editorial, Digital Development and Design. The aim of this particular exercise was for students to work together based on the task outline they were given and then share their ideas with the wider group.
Additionally, students received adequate information regarding the different ways of starting their journey in the publishing industry and, the career opportunities that are available at Penguin Random House and Publishing.
Year 12 student Balqis commented:
“I found the workshop really enjoyable and a unique experience as I have never had the chance to read into the details on book publishing and the jobs that are available in this industry, such as Finance Director and Lawyer.
"I loved working with other people I don’t necessarily interact with on a daily basis at school and, the speakers from Penguin Random House were helpful regarding the advice we received about our future careers.
"Overall, I am Just really grateful for the opportunity we had to welcome individuals with so much experience in the industry!”
